About Me

About Me

I have always loved trains as a child, whether it was watching Thomas the Tank Engine, National Geographic specials on Trains or Shining Time Station I couldn't help but be fascinated with them. The way they looked, sounded and smelled it all screamed like an adventure to my childhood mind.

I was raised in a loving Christian home and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of 6 but rededicated at age 12 as I felt I truly didn't understand it well back then and felt it really strengthened after this. I decided to be baptized shortly after high school and am overjoyed to be able to share my story to others wherever I go.

My fathers work as a CEO of an environmental firm took my family to alot of places in the US and to keep us from getting bored my parents took my brother and I to any tourist railroad in the area. This kindled my love of transportation history and preservation.

What sealed it most was riding with my dad in our Plymouth Voyager in my hometown, he told me to roll down the window and pointed to the tracks next to us and there came a big black steam locomotive thundering down the line it was the NKP 765 pulling special trains to the Tulip Time festival in Holland, MI.

Our favorite family location was the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, PA and continues to remain a favorite place to visit ever since.

I have since volunteered at several railroads and museums. I worked at the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum for 3 years but have volunteered since it's beginning. It's a disease you don't want a cure for and is contagious to all ages and types.

I would never trade those experiences and only hope to grow more in skills and knowledge.

I earned my nickname Ironhorse from a crewmember of the Oregon Railroad Heritage foundation who was volunteering on the Trainfest 2009 train crew. He called me this due to my love of trains and horses and the name has stuck ever since.

I feel it is my mission to not only spread the Gospel to anyone I encounter but to also promote preservation, create clean family friendly content and teach more on railroad safety for as long as the Lord allows me.
