Blast from the Past!

Blast from the Past!

Working on creating new content one cannot help but look back on all that you have been blessed with to get this far.  I still do not understand and probably never will other than God is so good on why I was blessed to see what I have seen but I am grateful to be able to share it all with you such as my videos from my family's video archives.

Growing up my mother loved to take photos and videos capturing special moments in our lives and I am beyond grateful and glad she did as I get to share with you all that I was able to learn and see on my railroad journey in life. It inspired me to want to capture my own adventures to share with others. Such adventures include never before seen footage I took of my trip on the 2011 Cadillac Limited pulled by the famous Nickel Plate Road #765 from Fort Wayne, Indiana where it is lovingly cared for by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.

Footage of that day was put on both my YouTube and TikTok channels for all to see and enjoy. That day was a perfect day for an excursion, not too hot, not too cold, beautiful sunny skies, gorgeous fall colors and of course the engine was putting on a great show for all to enjoy.

Fun story that was not included in the video as I was asked not to film was the following day after the engine had suffered a small breakdown on the return back to Owosso. My friend and I had caught up to the engine in Clare, MI while it was taking on water and my friend Ken was the engineer at the time. He let us ride in the cab and agreed to drop us off in Ithaca Park where my car was parked and I'd bring my friend back to Clare to pick up his car. The engine ran beautifully despite her little breakdown and crowds enjoyed seeing her on the move especially the students at CMU in Mt. Pleasant. Unfortunately a few thought it would be fun to block the tracks with small items just to watch the engine crush it with its massive driver wheels, thankfully ken stopped just in time and got out to confront them. Our fireman that day told me to sit in the engineers seat and my friend sat in the coal bunker telling us to watch the show. He added enough coal and water to force the engines safety valves to go off and we knew that day how Moses felt when he watched the Red Sea be parted! Those students learned a lesson that day but they still enjoyed the engine. We arrived in Ithaca Park in the quiet of the night. Once we got off and the engine was given a once over, they blew the whistle and steamed off into the night. I'll never forget the sound of that night whistle as long as I lived.

Ever since that day I have been a proud member of the organization and enjoy supporting this amazing piece of history.
